TITLE
Northern Plains Transition to Teaching
HISTORY
Created by Wyoming, in conjunction with Montana and South
Dakota, under a grant from the Transition to Teaching Program,
awarded by the U.S. Department of Education.
MOTIVATION
Wyoming needed a program that could be delivered online for
individuals who already have a bachelor’s degree and
want to become teachers.

REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER
A bachelor's degree.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Candidates:
Enroll in the program and complete 9 semester hours of coursework,
prior to entry into the classroom as teachers;
Complete an internship, which entails teaching for one school
year;
Complete the final 9 semester hours of coursework after the
first year of teaching.
They may also enroll in a master’s degree program.
NUMBER OF CREDIT HOURS TO COMPLETE
24 semester hours.
