Limited Teaching License
HISTORY
Adopted by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission
(TSPC) in 1999.
MOTIVATION
The Limited Teaching License is issued for one or more highly
specialized subjects of instruction for which TSPC does not
issue a specific endorsement. An example would be dance.

Teacher Standards and Practices Commission.
REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER
To be eligible for a Limited Teaching License the applicant
must
- Have an accredited associates degree or its approved equivalent
in objectively evaluated post-secondary education related
to the intended subject of instruction.
- Demonstrate knowledge of applicable civil rights laws.
- Furnish fingerprints in the manner prescribed by TSPC.
- Apply jointly with an employing school district.
- Submit a job description and qualifications summarized
on a resume.
The co-applicant district must
- Provide its particular need in relation to the co-applicant
teacher's qualifications.
- Agree to provide a mentor during the first year of the
assignment.
- Attest that circumstances prevent hiring a suitable teacher
holding any other full-time license appropriate for the role
to be filled.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
During the life of the first Limited Teaching License the
candidate must
- 1. Obtain a passing score on the TSPC approved test of
basic skills.
- 2. Obtain a passing score on a test of knowledge of US
and Oregon civil rights laws at the conclusion of a course
or workshop approved by TSPC.

LENGTH OF TIME
The Limited Teaching License is valid for three years and
is renewable under the conditions stated in "Program Description."
