MOTIVATION

Developed for individuals with bachelor's degrees who meet content prerequisites for entry and complete a state-approved, 36 semester hour master's degree program in Primary/K-4 or Middle Level/5-8 Education.

REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER

This program is designed for candidates who already have a bachelor's degree in any field, who come from non-education backgrounds, and have an interest in primary or middle-level age children.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The program offers an accelerated means to earn both a master's degree and state teacher certification in two years. It is designed to accommodate those who hold another job while training. The individual must complete:

36 semester hours of courses, given during evening hours, over about 18 months.

12-15-weeks of student teaching. Candidates who have jobs must be available full-time during daytime hours to complete this requirement.

Additional coursework the summer after student teaching.

A three-week intensive research project.

There is an Internship requirement in order to complete the program for State of Delaware certification.
