Post Baccalaureate Certification
MOTIVATION
Students with a bachelor's degree may apply to a college or university and, upon acceptance, take the courses designed to meet certification or program requirements. Many institutions combine the certification/program courses with a master's degree.

REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
B-grade point average.
Subject area major as required by Connecticut regulations.
Passing score on Praxis I PPST, or a passing score on an approved substitute exam.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Students complete a post baccalaureate level planned program, which includes, at a minimum, professional education courses in foundations of education, educational psychology, curriculum and methods of teaching, student teaching, and special education.
NUMBER OF CREDIT HOURS TO COMPLETE
The number of credits required to complete these post baccalaureate programs varies, depending upon whether or not the higher education institution requires that a master's degree also is completed.
WHO EVALUATES
All post baccalaureate planned programs have been approved by the Connecticut State Board of Education.
