First available in the early 1950s.
MOTIVATION
To enable a local school district to employ an individual from
another profession who possesses unique abilities.

REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER
The local school district must nominate the individual for
a specific teaching assignment.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The individual must pass the CBEST basic skills test during
the first year of teaching.
The individual is eligible for a clear credential upon completion
of five years of successful teaching.
NUMBER OF CREDIT HOURS TO COMPLETE
Not applicable.
WHO EVALUATES
LEA
LENGTH OF TIME
The credential is valid for two years and may be renewed one
time for a three-year period.
After five years of successful service, the individual is eligible
to apply for a professional clear teaching credential.
OTHER
Fewer than 5 such credentials are issued each year. During
the 2000-01 school year, only three Eminence Credentials were
issued, compared to 25,000 other first-time teaching credentials
issued.
