TITLE
Alternative Programs Leading to Initial Educator Licensing
HISTORY
Under new rules promulgated in 2000, the state superintendent
could approve alternative programs that lead to initial educator
licensing, beginning in 2001. Some pilot programs are underway.
MOTIVATION
In order to address shortages and provide accelerated, performance-based
programs to non-traditional students, new rules were promulgated,
which allow colleges and universities, agencies, school districts,
and others to develop alternative programs.
These programs are required to have students demonstrate proficiency
in Wisconsin's teaching standards, in order to be recommended
for the Initial Educator License.

- Resources Statement
- Instructional Design
- Student Admission Criteria
- Student Assessment and Program Completion Requirements
- Program Evaluation Plan
